May 16, 2019 · It's interesting, since the D300 and 40D shots look very similar in noise levels right up to ISO 400, but at ISO 800 the image from the D300 suddenly clears up and becomes virtually noise free, while the 40D shots get noisier and noisier the higher up the ISO gets.
