Hello, I have setup a VPN through our Sonicwall, however looking to setup a DNS Record so that instead of users typing Public IP for the server name I'd like for them to type a name instead.

I'm trying to get my DNS working coirrectly across a site-to-site VPN connection. My initial problem is I dont seem to cleanly have DNS queries for my VPN LAN go through the tunnel whilst all other queries are resolved out to the web. I have an improvement on previous setup but still not ideal. WI I'm looking to add a static DNS entry to a SonicWALL, is this possible? Please notice I said entry, not server. We do not have an in-house DNS server, all DNS requests are forwarded to the ISP's DNS servers. We are adding Ubiquiti AP's which we manage externally, we are looking to add an entry that forwards them to the public IP of our controller. In the advanced VPN settings I was able to configure the firewall to assign the Sonicwall's IP as the DNS server to the clients, but that did not resolve the problem. If I have put another DNS server on the network somewhere I can, but I'd like to avoid that if possible. To configure the SonicWALL appliance(s) to obtain the DNS server information automatically, select Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically. To specify DNS servers, select Specify DNS Servers and enter the DNS Server IP addresses. The VPN > DHCP over VPN page allows you to configure a SonicWALL security appliance to obtain an IP address lease from a DHCP server at the other end of a VPN tunnel. In some network deployments, it is desirable to have all VPN networks on one logical IP subnet, and create the appearance of all VPN networks residing in one IP subnet address space.
